Another Apple Update

October 18th, 2004

So I called up Apple US to update them on my conversation with Apple Latin America. The guys I spoke with at Apple US Customer Service were VERY kind and understanding. Nothing like the guys at Apple Latin America. They kept appologizing for my experience with Apple Latin America and told me they’d do everything they could to get Apple Latin America in gear. Then again anything is better than Apple Latin America suggesting that I either a) go to all 20 apple service centers in Argentina and see if they have my part in stock or b) fly back to the states and get it fix there.

Anyways, Apple US told me they’d do their best to find out: where my new logic board is and when it is *scheduled* to arrive.

I dont think I’m asking for anything unreasonable. All I want is some type of idea on when I will have a working computer again and maybe access to some kind of a loaner if it’ll be weeks / months/ years.

iBook Update 10/16/04: “No iBook for you!”

October 18th, 2004

So I continue to wait for my iBook. I spoke with Jeraldo at Apple Latin America (he wouldnt give me an extension or e-mail address), he basically called to say “I’m sorry, please wait longer.” I explained its almost 2 months now I’ve been with out an iBook and he told me he sorry about that and that Apple acknowledges that they need to fix the problem and that they will, but Apple has no idea how long it will take! I asked if they could do any of the following so that we could resolve the issue more quickly:

  • Test the logic boards before mailing them out so I dont end up with the wrong model or another defective board.
  • Lend me a piece of hardware so I’m not stuck without anything.
  • Give me a status update on where the logic board is physically. Heck, they wont even tell me if its on the boat heading here, stuck in customs, etc.

Jeraldo’s response was “I’m not in logistics I cant do any of that. I just called to let you know we recognize your problem exists and we will try to solve it at some point.” Basically saying thanks go back and wait in line. “No Soup for you! Next!”

This is not the type of service I have come to expect of Apple. They’re usually a lot more prompt and a lot more friendly / helpful.

Anyways, my case number on all this is: 41849877. If you happen to be from Apple and want to help me out a bit go prod someone in shipping! 🙂
