This Episode: Jaberation! or XMPP Federation

I’ve just enabled server to server communication for the jabber server at work.  As a result we are now federated with google talk, jabber.org and any other XMPP based IM service.

Setting it up basically entailed openning up the firewall port that was previously blocking it and updating  an SRV record. 

Its kinda cool how XMPP “just works” that way. Anyways, I put out a MOTD about this, but it will be interesting to see how much use it gets.  Most people seem to be fond of maintaining their work and personal IM accounts seperate.

BBB of New Jersey

While many BBB offices now offer a complete complaint / resolution system online. Unfortunately the New Jersey office, where Vonage is a member, only communicates via postal mail 🙁

I’m trying to work with them to resolve some issues I’m experiencing with Vonage. The requirement that we work via USPS is making it take much longer than necessary.

The damn cat woke me up at 7am.  Considering I went to sleep around
4am.  I’m now operating on 3 hours of sleep.  Today will be less than
fun.
