CherryOS

April 5th, 2005

Slashdot reported today that CherryOS is now on hold indefinately (original MacWorld article by Jim Dalrymple) . You may recall that CherryOS was found to be almost criminally similar to PearPC, to the point where it had the same bugs.

Anyways, a qucik look at archive.org brought up their old site and press releases. Here is some contact info for their PR guy. Maybe I’ll break out the podcasting gear and record a call with them?

From an old press release:

Jim Kartes, 866-661-5699 jim@vx30.com

From VX30.com:

Maui X-Stream, Inc.
1068 Limahana Pl Suite #5
Lahaina Hi, USA 96761
Phone: 1 (808) 661-5699
Fax: 1 (808) 667-7002

Update: I tried calling in a few times this afternoon, but Jim was “out”. They asked me to call back tomorrow.

Congrats Chris

Chris Dibona announced he is now on the OSI board. Give ’em hell Chris. You’re definatley right about misuse of the term “open source”. Last week I was speaking with a vendor who kept trying to convince me their product was open source. The sales guy couldn’t understand the difference between an open api and actually opening the code.
