Chris Pirillo talks about how TMBG profited by giving him free music. Thats actually how they roped me in to. Years ago I downloaded a ton of their music off napster as well as their free eMusic site. Not knowing who they were I didn’t want to buy a CD yet. After a few weeks of listening to “stolden” mp3s I bought a cd. Since then, I’ve bought several more, usually after hearing some of the songs on TMBG radio and now their podcast.
The same thing happened with pretty much every other CD I’ve bought in the last 5 – 6 years. Its how the Eels got me hooked,. Let me steal your music! If its really good I’ll end up buying it.
