Finally found some free wifi…

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

On my way to work I today I noticed a sign in the window at “Cinema” (a movie themed restaurant 2 blocks from my apartment). Sure, enough I dropped by for some dinner and theres free wifi. I think I’ll probably be eating here more often now even though the food isn’t all that amazing. See guys? It pays to offer *FREE* wifi. Starbucks would have had me as a regular in the states if it was free. I just dont like the idea of paying the equivilent of my DSL or cable modem at home to use wifi a few days a week. If you offer free wifi people will come in sit down and order a drink or two or more.

Kevin’s podcast was mentioned in Wired recently. Looks like Doc Searls listens. Congrats on the plug Kevin and thanks for continuing to plug SCALE 3x on your show, we really appreciate it.

Searls said In the Trenches is “down in the bowels of some IT organization, and he talks about his racks and servers, and it’s great. All the interesting (IT) stuff is being done by the rank and file. It’s not being done at the top of the company.”
