Net Access Down

For the last week or so our net access here has been quite flakey. Since I’m always using either our broadvoice or Vonage VoIP lines it has been a bit of a problem. Finally today I got ticked off and picked up the POTS line to call my ISP Linkline (they sponsored SCALE too!) and could barely hear the dial tone due to static. When I finally was able to dial through to them I was able to hear my neighbor Cliff on the line giving someone their password! Anyways, long story short I opened a ticket with both Linkline and SBC. SBC says they’ll be out Tuesday. Originally they said Friday, but I keep calling everytime the net goes down to ask if they can move it up 🙂 Never underestimate the power of persistance.

By the way as long as I’m discussing net access, Linkline has been my ISP for 4 years now. Their service has always been great and they’ve recently started selling Linux based servers. The best part is the support the OSS community by sponsoring events like the Southern California Linux Expo. So if you are looking for an ISP or some new servers drop them a line and tell them you heard about them through SCALE.
